A word from our sponsor…

Although it was a little late in the game, the Grape District is now a part of Art Blossom!

We are happy to feature some of their lovely wines:

Gorilla Primitivo from Puglia (our resident red)

Vina Sofraga from Rueda (the white)

Fizz Fizz Fizz Cava (bubbles, of course)

The Grape District locations can also be found on our Art Blossom iPhone application! Enjoy them here or pick one up on your way home…

Les Avant Nu tonight at Art Blossom’s VIP event

Les Avant Nu is a dynamic, creative collective filled with wonderful minds and artists from different disciplines. We try to break prejudices and rejoice in what is different. Our performances, tableaux vivants and expositions are happy, chaotically organized, expressive, intuitive, adventurous, dynamic and impulsive.

Les Avant Nu goes back to the time when Brug 9 was a prison. We’ve taken inspiration
from this and the theme of Art Amsterdam: No Holds Barred

Interior

Brug9 Interior

We made a combination between fashion, beauty and the restrictions of being imprisoned. Our sculptural oufits will refer to being bound, caged, kept from the world and with a touch of S&M.
The costumes are bondage-like but with an air of humor and art, and always with the personal touch of Les Avant Nu.

We will showcase our creations in the form of a performance. Our take on things will be guided by a musical mix of Monsieur Plastique to emphasise the emotions and ideas.

Have we tantalized you? Then come take a look…

It’s gallery season

Today, you can walk through the Jordaan (after visiting Dam Square) and hit up some of the gallerie s that are having their openings today! Many of the galleries that are participating in Art Blossom are showing their wares before spending a week at Art Amsterdam…. This is a good moment to see all of the action before the rest of the city does.

Resort to childlike behavior

In this sunny weather, what more could you ask for then to be outside painting? Go to Dam Square and contribute to the Art Blossom Paint-by-Numbers canvas – a canvas of 2.5×1.8m is sitting in Dam Square begging to be painted on and played with. This little project was created, developed and executed by Jottem!, a guerilla marketing group and creative partner for Art Blossom. Get out in the sun, bring some friends and an iced coffee and paint your heart out.

Ten Haaf Projects has eerie paintings

If you like portraits of striking faces that aren’t quite right while at the same time are appealing to the eye, then look no further than Ten Haaf Projects latest exhibition by Georgina Gratrix! Quite colorful, super confronting, technically beautiful… ms. Gratrix is an emerging artist hailing from South Africa and has brought the weight of her worldview to Amsterdam. Running through 19 June.

As long as your hair still looks good…

Galerie Gabriel Rolt’s latest exhibition of recent paintings by British artist Dawn Mellor is called THE CONSPIRATORS.
Comprised of portraits of actresses in movie roles and taken from film stills, but then completely warped and twisted – we like Audrey Hepburn from My Fair Lady, Meryl Streep and a particularly freaky (if you like clowns) Louise Fletcher.
